The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it was able to clean baking powder near baseboards and corners. Its suction power of 2,500Pa was a little weaker than other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was quiet. It didn't mop, and its clean pad was a challenge to attach. It also couldn't handle dried-on dirt.

Its app lacks advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however its voice controls aren't particularly precise or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it returns to the charging station following an exercise. Other robots can follow the wall or trace an earlier route, but the RX3 bumbles around until it finally gives up.

Another issue we encountered was with its clever features, specifically the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. While it did a good job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs but it could easily be caught by cables and socks and was unable to handle the tassels of rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our best robot vacuums Buy list. Still, with a decent price tag and impressive performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering in the event you're looking to find an alternative to traditional uprights.
