Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a best smart vacuum map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It may get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits in well next to the coffee table or shelves that you can spin around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It is able to swiftly switch from floor vacuum to handheld best automatic vacuum and vice versa.

This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's a good option for those who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of features for automation.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing.
