There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum that mops vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming.
