WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the item upgrade level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrading used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the Item Level Upgrade (Condorfont15.Bravejournal.Net). For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer Best item upgrade upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrading for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if those items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
