WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrades is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade item can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

item level Upgrade upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from a different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
