Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat packaging that was easy to open and deemed it to be one of the quickest and easiest pieces of baby equipment to put together. She tested it on some rough terrain and was impressed by its performance.

Seats

The majority of 3 wheel double buggies begin as single pushchairs. However, some can be modified to accept an additional seat by using adapters. Some models allow you to add an extra board for older children who are ready to walk but require assistance.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It's a breeze to move and has a deep basket with plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins starting at birth and will accept two car seats or a carrycot with a seat. However, the seats need to be oriented forward and there's no room to store a bag of groceries underneath and you'll need a sidepack for that.

If you're looking to go off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a excellent option. It's a side-by- tandem with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This makes it easier to fit through narrow doors and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without much trouble. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the adjustable handlebar to provide additional security and safety.

Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used to accommodate twins or a baby and toddler. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't get into your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known on the market. This is due to their exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension that is able to handle bumpy surfaces. It has 30 different seating options, a built-in board for older children who prefer to walk, and a 'cinema' mode which raises the back seat for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily adapted to take two (or three wheeler pushchairs!) in multiple configurations. This is especially useful for parents with children in a car seat, because the frame can be equipped with a wedgie for optimum position, and also car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension in a 3-wheel double buggy is crucial to how easy it will be for you and your child to push. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump in the road, particularly if it's on rough terrain like grass or dirt roads. Certain models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Certain models come with air-filled tyres that are great for all-terrain rides, but they are susceptible to punctures. Be sure to keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 through its trials with her infant and three wheeler pushchair years old, and found that it performed admirably on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over pavements that were bumpy and grassy dirt tracks, cobbles and cobbles easily and was able to maneuver around corners and get up and down kerbs. Folding
