Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet messes in one time, without having to switch between devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good robot vacuum combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its relatively affordable price, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual will have you up and running in no time. You'll have a a full dust bag, water tank and hard floor solution.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are superb, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only drawback is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the cleaning history in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs need to be done, such as emptying the debris tray and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of running for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the best automatic vacuum and mop capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easy to understand however we would have liked to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pull up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could overlook.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another type of surface. It is able to change its path automatically and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.

The only issue I encountered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if it's required) but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash manually. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery life and maintain your components. You'll need to jump through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its intelligent design allows users to tailor and effectively clean while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry messes. It also comes with a high-quality mop that leaves floors sparkling clean, even with a wet pad. In addition, the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

The X40 has a side brush that is able to be lifted and extended. This allows it to reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture that is curved like table and chair legs. It can also get under furniture with low profile which makes it an ideal choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically lowers itself when it spots wet spots, which is a nice feature that assists the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by excessive back-and-forth movements.

Contrary to other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can also be programmed to avoid areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors, or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operations.

The app is simple and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it a perfect option for busy families. The docking station will automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is full and alert you before it overflows, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market however, it comes with numerous extra features that set it apart. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and other small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is an excellent feature because it prevents the growth of odours and mould in storage, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

There's a wealth of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options to customize the cleaning process, and there are many functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles instead of using an individual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this list, but it's still not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. Mopping is well designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
