What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader (from this source) adds a new widget at the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no gameplay benefit other than making it easier to buy upgrades.

Boosts

With an item upgrader, you can get a number of bonuses. They can include stats and extra bonuses. These bonuses can be incorporated into weapons or armor, as well trinkets. They can be used to boost the abilities of a character or add a new element of variety to their character.

Costs

There are some costs associated with item upgrades. The most significant cost is the upgrade items itself. This cost depends on the new level of the item and the amount of perks it receives, and can be expensive. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the cost of the items needed to upgrade. These are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. These materials can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

The process of upgrading an item is a complex process that requires time. It could take as long as 8 hours, depending on the size of an upgrade. It is also possible to add a variety of additional items to the upgrade, increasing the chance of success. These are shown in a window above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can add is shown directly above the + button.

Another method to increase the chance of an upgrade succeeding is by using an item known as Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is useful if your weapon or piece is nearing or has reached the top level of its tier. This item allows you to upgrade the equipment to the next tier without the risk of it breaking.
